Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners.

In addition to traditional cookies, the ScalpArena platform uses browser local storage and session storage. These are similar technologies that allow websites to store data directly in your browser. Local storage data persists until explicitly cleared, while session storage is automatically deleted when you close your browser tab.

Throughout this policy, when we refer to "cookies," we include all of these client-side storage technologies unless stated otherwise.

2. How We Use Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser storage for the following purposes:

  • Authentication: Storing JWT (JSON Web Token) access and refresh tokens to keep you logged in securely across page navigations and browser sessions.
  • Session management: Maintaining your active session state, including WebSocket connection parameters and session identifiers.
  • User preferences: Remembering your settings such as sound preferences (enabled/disabled, volume), chart indicator configurations, selected assets, and UI display preferences.
  • Match state persistence: Storing active match data, onboarding progress, coach mark completion status, and other match state to ensure a seamless experience if you refresh the page or temporarily lose connectivity.
  • Consent preferences: Recording your cookie consent choices so we do not ask you repeatedly.

3. Cookie Categories

We categorize our cookies and storage usage as follows:

Essential Cookies

Always Active

These cookies are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. Without them, you would not be able to log in, play matches, or use core features. They cannot be disabled.

  • Authentication tokens (access token, refresh token)
  • Session state and connection management
  • Active match data persistence
  • Cookie consent preference
  • CSRF protection tokens
  • Responsible trading session tracking

Analytics Cookies

Opt-In

These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Platform, which features are most popular, and where users experience issues. This data helps us improve the Platform.

Not currently active. We plan to introduce analytics cookies in the future, at which point this section will be updated and your consent will be requested before they are activated.

Marketing Cookies

Opt-In

These cookies are used for promotional purposes and affiliate tracking.

  • Affiliate tracking cookie (__sa_aff) — records which affiliate partner referred you to the Platform. Set only when you arrive via an affiliate link.

Additional marketing cookies are not currently active. Any future additions will require your explicit consent.

4. Third-Party Cookies

We minimize the use of third-party cookies on the Platform. Currently, the only third-party cookies are set by:

  • Cloudflare Turnstile: Used for CAPTCHA verification during account registration and password reset to prevent automated abuse. Cloudflare may set cookies to distinguish between human users and bots. These cookies are classified as essential because they protect the integrity of the registration process.

We do not use any third-party advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or other cross-site tracking technologies.

5. Managing Your Preferences

You can manage your cookie preferences in the following ways:

  • Cookie consent banner: When you first visit the Platform, a cookie consent banner will appear allowing you to accept or customize which non-essential cookie categories you allow.
  • Browser settings: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find these options in the "Privacy" or "Security" section of your browser preferences. You can block all cookies, accept all cookies, or selectively manage them.
  • Clearing stored data: You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser's settings. In most browsers, this is found under "Clear browsing data" or similar.

Important: If you disable or delete essential cookies, the Platform will not function correctly. You will be unable to log in, and any active match data or preferences will be lost. We strongly recommend keeping essential cookies enabled.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, particularly as we introduce new features or third-party integrations that involve cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.

If we introduce new categories of non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and request your consent before activating them. Your continued use of the Platform after changes to essential cookie practices constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
